We are back!

As London emerges from lockdown and we all start to adjust to a ‘new normal’, it may be

overwhelming or scary. This is completely understandable – and the South Norwood Clocktower Market is here to gently ease you back into the world. Supporting the local community of traders, makers and bakers, you can expect to find fresh produce, artisan food, street food, handmade craft from ceramics to jewellery and clothing, multicultural books and more.

On Saturday 3rd April a veritable wonder team of artisan makers, bakers and street-food shakers brought their fine produce and infectious enthusiasm to Station Road, heralding the arrival of spring and better times to come in 2021. The queues were lengthy, but it had been so long since we’d all partaken in this great British pastime that everyone solemnly fell into line and joyously embraced their place. They weren’t disappointed and were able to choose from a smorgasbord of delights including:

All Sorts - A delicious purveyor of luxury preserves, and home-made food and gift items. Debbie grows all her own fresh fruit and veg in season in Tooting and Mitcham. Personal faves are the Bakewell pieces and Damson jam.

Dirty Crunch – South London’s naughtiest, juiciest and most downright delicious build of mouth-watering meat. The Pulled Pork Burger is decadent indulgence.

Little Mouse cheese - Two South Norwood cheese connoisseurs passionate about local community who recently set up their business and thank goodness they did. Needless to say, sweet dreams are made of cheese!

Roti Rhythms - A small family-run West Indian street food master bringing bold flavours and home-cooked love served in generous portions. Keep calm and curry chicken.

Definite Chocolate - A bean-to-bar craft chocolate maker, producing luxury dark chocolate without any additives. Sourced directly from local producers, they use only high-quality, single-origin cacao to produce unique and scrumptious chocolates.

Essence of Cake – Our very own Great British Baker Tracey. Bringing consistently delicious cake on the regular. A legend in the baking.

Chickee Hummus – Mauro has combined his passion for cooking and tackling food waste to make healthy, fresh nutritious hummus from wonky surplus veggies supplied by ethical local producers. We’re fans. Chick, please!

Love Bite Raw – Vegan desserts - Passionate about baking and curious about raw food, the result is naturally healthy treats with no processed sugar and no preservatives. ‘Everyone can enjoy a slice, a biscuit or even some truffles.’ Hear hear!!

Fressco – Organic vegan foods - Ethically produced foods characterized for being produced in the UK and plastic-free. Fressco’s main goal is to tackle climate change by creating consciousness about the effects that our consumption choices have on the environment. It helps that all their food is yummy too.

Sound good? Well, you too can get a slice of this deliciousness. Join us with friends and family on Saturday 1st May from 10 am – 4 pm. Meet some fresh faces and some long-time traders. Enjoy a soundtrack of soulful beats with your street-eats and let’s bring the good vibes back to South Norwood. Your support for the market and our independent traders is greatly appreciated, we just ask that you keep yourselves and our traders safe by following the government guidelines to control further spread of the coronavirus.

P.S. We are always on the lookout for talented new traders to join the South Norwood Clocktower Market, you don’t necessarily have to be an experienced market trader to do this. All we’re looking for is bags of enthusiasm, a positive attitude and great products to add to the variety already on offer. We are particularly interested in hearing from street food traders and hand-crafted makers. Get in touch!
